Try Clay!

Enjoy creative things?  Do you like to make things with your hands?  Come explore the potential of clay with one of our Try Clay Sessions!  These great one-off pottery experiences are designed for anyone ages 14 and up that have never made pottery before.  During your 1.5 hour session, you will be introduced to the potters’ wheel and the practice known as “throwing.”   Your knowledgeable instructor will guide you through throwing fundamentals, and you will have an opportunity to create some pottery of your own!   Book yourself or as a group.  These are wonderfully social and spirited introductions to the joys of throwing.
Participants can keep the works created, but because of the process required, you will not be able to take the work you create home right away.  We’ll help fire and finish your works and let you know when they are ready.  Pottery will take 2-3 weeks to process.  You will be notified by email once they are ready to pick up.

Workshops will be held from 5:30 - 7:00 p.m. the third Friday of every month beginning June 17th.
Fees: $44, Residents                 $66, Non-Residents

Clay Party/Pottery Workshop

Pottery parties and workshops are fun for all ages! Your friends will be talking about it for weeks! Not only will everyone have a blast, but participants will take pride in what they make with their hands and experience the ceramic medium firsthand by completing handbuilding projects or pottery on the wheels. Workshops can be designed for a wide range of ideas.  We’ll happily tailor to your interests or requests, but this must be discussed in advance.  Workshops are 90 minutes of hands-on clay time with an additional 30 minutes for cake/party allotted for birthday events or meetings. All party materials will be the responsibility of the participant booking the event.  Birthday parties aren’t just for kids!!  Adults can design their own party with clay and byob. Ages: 8+

Blacksmithing, Knife Making and Welding Workshops and Private bookings
Workshops can be set up for 3, 6, or 12-hour programs.  Your program will be an instructional journey through tools and equipment, material selection, body mechanics, design considerations, forging techniques, basic heat treating principles and finishing methods.  You will experience a very active class with an emphasis on hands-on learning with hammer, heat and iron. Our Blacksmithing  programs serve as introductions to forging arts and are focused on project-based learning including ornamental and functional iron works.  Bladesmithing participants will gain crucial forge and finish experiences, and will leave the course with a finished, heat treated knife. Welding courses offer an excellent way for beginners to learn how to join pieces of metal through different types of welding. These "crash courses" have been designed to give participants the knowledge and confidence needed to start working safely with these fun metal joining processes. Ages 16+ without a parent. 13+ with parent’s attendance.
